SCHOOL AUTHOR VISITS
I AM HAPPY TO TALK TO THE WHOLE PRIMARY AGE RANGE PLUS SECONDARY, YEARS 7 AND 8
MY TYPICAL AUTHOR DAY AT A PRIMARY SCHOOL:
(The following sessions can be timetabled in to suit the school)
ABOUT THE SESSIONS
I like to work in a hall and it's great if there's a piano and a CD player. The sessions are strongly interactive and not at all static! I make sure there are literacy initiatives for the teachers to take back to the classroom, but I also make it fun and hopefully inspirational. There is quite a strong musical element. I read a bit from appropriate books, and introduce the children a little to the life of an author, as well as showing them how a book evolves from an idea floating about in my head to the finished product they see in book shops. (Oh, and I never read for too long!)

ABOUT THE SIGNING
Children usually like a memento of the day so I'm always happy to do a book signing session. Some schools have found it a successful formula to have a tea party after school so that children get to introduce me to their parents. I have a book supplier - Caroline Elcombe of Creative Active Reading, who will come to the school if she is free (or send books on a sale and return basis if not). She supplies all my books in the right numbers for your school. I have published over 100 books suitable for boys and girls from 3 - 12.
Below are some quotes from teachers at schools I've recently visited…
"We have been lucky enough to have had many authors over the years but Ann is the most dynamic author I have had the privilege to listen to. She is an inspiration to all of us!"
'Not only were the children completely under Ann's spell as she read and talked about her stories, but they learnt so much about books at the same time. The visit far exceeded our expectations and has also acted as a source of inspiration for children who are not keen readers.'
Alison Bush, Chesham Prep
"Ann Bryant's visit was one of the highlights of our year. The Y4 children and staff were enraptured by her storytelling and didn't want the moment to end. The CD books were a revelation, the children completely spellbound by the mixture of music with fabulous words and pictures."
Jackie Mizon (YR4), Sherrardswood School
"Ann Bryant had the children captivated from the start. The children were very enthusiastic, listening carefully to her story telling and eagerly joining in the interactive sessions. The children and staff, from Yr3 to Yr6 all had a really enjoyable day."
Carol Nixon (Literacy Coordinator), Sherrardswood School
"To keep the whole of Year 6, who were sitting on a hard floor, engaged and
inspired for an hour was quite something!"
Steve Elliott (Head Teacher)
